What will our world be like in 2035? – Our favorite cryptos will they have disappeared or will they be more than ever at the heart of our economy? The bitcoin blockchain will she have changed the face of the world? We had fun, through little stories, imagining our lives in the not so distant future. The story that follows is fictionalized, imaginary, dystopian, without any pretension to guess the future. Have fun with us through our new summer format, too available on our Twitter. Embark in the DeLorean JDC, direction 2035!
The beginnings of ecological disaster
July 13, 2035 – Unbearable heat, all of France sweats profusely in 48°C sunshine. This summer is the hottest on record since we’ve been able to record anything. New maritime routes are now opening via the North Pole, coveted by Canada and Russia, which are debating the merits of their position within the Arctic Council.
7:10 a.m. – In his Parisian apartment, Bastien takes his coffee while listening to the news.
— …as you know, the nuclear power plants are now shut down and will remain so for two years in order to bring them back up to standard, which is much needed. Summer helping, however, we will not have to suffer the repeated power cuts that we have experienced this winter…
8:15 a.m. – Bastien gets into his taxi then opens his newspaper.
On the front page are praised the merits of vast programs for the installation of wind farms and solar panels, planned to invade the countryside and mountains this year. Where there is room.

“Finally, the government is getting down to the ecological transition, it was time! title the paper.
– … can not say that we had not warned you! We have been talking about the financing of renewable energies for years. Why the USA and Europe have waited so long before getting to mining ? laments an expert on the radio.
9:03 a.m. – Bastien arrives at the Hôtel de la Roquelaure and hurriedly joins his colleagues from the Ministry of Ecological Transition. He has a conf call with the consulting teams of BigBlock Datacenter. The project for which he is responsible has just been launched, but we still need to start on the right foot. Bastien checks his watch, he’s not early.
— Hello Christine, hello Axel…
“Hello, Mr. Pillou!”
10:15 a.m. – As Bastien pours his second coffee of the day, he thinks back to recent advances in energy.
The recurrent power cuts that occurred last winter were an electric shock for the government. In order to put an end to the multiple demonstrations of green vests, the president announced a major investment plan over 5 years to ensure France’s self-sufficiency in carbon-free energies, including 50% of the balance sheet in renewable energies.
A goal far too ambitious for the deadline announced according to Bastien, but he had no say in the matter. And in the end, it is he who will have to answer for the result. He sighs then swallows his coffee in one sip, he’s already late for the next meeting.

The planet saved by Bitcoin mining?
12:30 p.m. – Bastien goes down to the foot of the building and walks one minute to the Maison Galland bakery. Ouch, €27 for a sandwich… That too is a problem, thinks Bastien, but fortunately it’s not up to him to solve it. To each his own cross, as they say.
1:30 p.m. – After a 3rd coffee, it’s time for the long-awaited meeting with the representatives ofEDF, ENGIE and TotalEnergies.
Part of their production now passes through bitcoin mining machines. Bastien has questions and these must be answered.
4:45 p.m. – Cordial exchange on the telephone with his American counterpart. Sharing information on similar construction sites in progress on the other side of the ocean. The Americans are not ahead either. Unlike some African countries and El Salvador, pioneers in the sector.

The conclusion is there. For several years, a rebalancing of economic forces has been underway and this is not going in France’s direction.
7:30 p.m. – In the return taxi, Bastien thinks back to the various energy reports that have appeared on Bitcoin in recent years.
As early as 2022, a slew of study reports were already appearing: Coinshare, value chain, demonstrating figures in support of the relevance of mining in the development of alternative energies. the Bitcoin Mining Council had also made its voice heard in the USA by publishing a report and then by addressing a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency.
“How did we miss all that back then?” Bastien grumbled aloud.
– Sorry sir ? inquired the driver.
“Excuse me, I was talking to myself.
8:15 p.m. – Bastien takes his shower, then prepares to eat.
Why had France been so ignorant at the time? Fear of the unknown, fear of innovating? Lack of time, means? She doesn’t have more today except that now she has no choice, he thought.
8:30 p.m. – He glances distractedly at the news on TV.
“… Bitcoin City in El Salvador, where the next international Bitcoin conference will be held. Michael Saylor and Elon Musk will participate in a round table on the theme “Bitcoin, why did we not understand from 2022?” »
11:10 p.m. – Lying in his bed, Minister of Ecological Transition sigh. If only his predecessors had acted sooner… He takes one last look at his laptop. On the screen, the weather forecast for the next day announces 50°C in Paris.
Bitcoin mining. Criticized from all sides on the basis of prejudice relayed by the media. Recent expert study reports, however, tend to demonstrate, with supporting figures, the relevance of this new process. Thanks to him, a new impetus could be given to the development of renewable energies. Will our leaders realize it in time? Impossible to know, even for us who have gone to take a look in 2035 in one of the multiple dystopian futures that await us. Did you enjoy the walk?
