Switzerland – Portugal: 1-0
Portugal goes on vacation feeling upset. Undefeated at kick-off in this League of Nations, Fernando Santos’ men were surprised by Switzerland in Geneva (1-0), the same Switzerland they had however corrected a few days earlier in Lisbon. They were picked cold by Haris Seferovic (1st), who therefore offered his team’s first success in 2022 with an unstoppable header.
Sarabia offers precious success to Spain

Forced to run after the score, Portugal too often confused speed and haste in this meeting in which Cristiano Ronaldo did not participate at all, left to rest. He was not helped either by the disappointing performances of Rafael Leao and Bruno Fernandes, guilty of too much technical accuracy to hope for better.
There was better after the break, except that Jonas Omlin had a great game. The Swiss goalkeeper disgusted the Portuguese attackers on several occasions, especially when it was harder for his teammates (49th, 63rd, 71st, 78th, 88th). In terms of success, it was simply not the day of the Portuguese, who cede the lead in Group 2 of League A to Spain, for a small point. Suffice to say that a final is looming between the two nations for a place in the Big Four. We can take out the diaries: the poster is scheduled for September 27th.
Spain – Czech Republic: 2-0
The bargain for Spain. La Roja disposed of the Czech Republic (2-0), and took advantage of this bad move from Portugal to take control of group 2. At the Estadio La Rosaleda in Malaga, Carlos Soler (24th) and Pablo Sarabia (75th ) offered the victory to theirs. Thanks also to Portugal’s defeat in Switzerland (1-0), Luis Enrique’s men took the opportunity to take the lead in the Group 2 standings, while the Czechs remained third.
Realism was Spanish. In an attacking game that leaned more to the right, in the first act, Marco Asensio, tenured for the first time since November 2020, perfectly knew how to find Carlos Soler, who concluded without control, to launch his own and score his third goal in selection (24th, 1-0).
Luis Enrique then carried out a winning coaching, insofar as Pablo Sarabia then permanently put his people away, fifteen minutes from the end of this meeting, at close range (75th, 2-0). Also entered during the game, Gavi also stood out (70th), while Dani Olmo also came up against Ales Mandous (82nd).
La Roja dominated their subject (76% possession), just before going on vacation, against an opponent who had held them in check last Sunday in the first leg (2-2). This time again, the Czechs bravely played their luck, with an excellent start to the game. By pressing their opponents high, Vladimir Coufal’s partners recovered balls, then tried to put Unai Simon in danger.
But neither Vaclav Cerny (18th) nor Jan Kuchta (20th) had then managed to find the fault. To the delight of La Roja who can think of his final in September.
