Beaugrenelle : le premier centre commercial français à accepter les paiements en cryptomonnaies

the first French shopping center to accept payments in cryptocurrencies

The first mall to accept cryptocurrencies

The Beaugrenelle shopping center, located in Paris, will accept payment in cryptocurrency from this Wednesday, June 8, thanks to a gift card.

The sign, which has nearly 110 stores, has joined forces with the French startup Lyzi. The latter is developing an application that facilitates payment in cryptocurrencies.

In practice, customers will have to buy a gift card with their digital assets and it will be possible to pay with Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH) and 19 other cryptocurrencies. In this sense, the press release states:

“The center will thus offer its customers the opportunity to use their cryptocurrency to pay for their gift card, which can be used in all the shops and restaurants of the Magnetic and Panoramic buildings on rue Linois in the capital’s 15th arrondissement. »

It is therefore an indirect means of paying in cryptocurrencies, but which remains notable in a France that has historically been cautious about the sector.

Customer support for a month

In this approach, the startup will be present, for a period of one month, to explain to customers how the application works. The objective is to familiarize them with this new method of payment.

Furthermore, it should be noted that Lyzi will work in collaboration with Zebitex. Indeed, the fintech is not yet registered as a service provider on digital assets (PSAN) with the financial markets authority (AMF).

Whatever, payment in cryptocurrencies is becoming more democratic. Moreover, Damien Patureaux, CEO of Lyzi, indicates:

“We are convinced that the blockchain must be an indispensable component of the financial and retail ecosystem. We already have 1,500 connected points of sale in pre-marketing. »
