Thousands of Bayonne supporters gathered there to encourage the sky and white players. And, ultimately, to celebrate their team’s rise to the Top 14, after a one-sided match, which saw Bayonne win 49 to 20.

A year after leaving, Bayonne finds the elite. The Bayonne supporter has a strong heart. “It was so hard last year that this time, the joy is multiplied”, comments Vanessa, between two jumps of joy. “They ate the match, there’s nothing to say,” adds Laurent, at his side. “Next year, we’ll take a box! concludes Vanessa with a burst of laughter.

In the morning, the giant screen had been installed. During the day, the Place des Halles was nicely filled, first on its surroundings, on the café terraces, before everyone came to sit on the ground to reserve their place, in the front row. Others had opted for the shade of the streets, in favor of the bars which also offered retransmissions, on much more modest screens.

“Good for the little ones”
The faces, initially closed, visibly nervous during the first half, quickly relaxed. “It must be said that we did not have a great passive with Mont-de-Marsan”, slips Claudia, a club subscriber for six years. Reference to the 15 to 13 inflicted by the Landais to the Basques, last February. The Rowing fanatic took her son, Ylan, a little player in less than 8 years to Rowing. “I wanted to share that with him here, the bus to Montpellier was too long. »

As well as Brice, educator of the little ones. “It’s a great victory, they’re super happy to see the big guys win like that, it’s good for them, it promises a lot of dreams tonight,” enthuses the educator. This Monday, June 6, they will of course be among the crowd of Bayonnais, in front of the town hall, to welcome the players who made their eyes shine this Sunday.
When the match ended, much of the crowd quickly dispersed. The most revelers stayed to honor the beautiful game, of course.
Some have gone so far as to adopt Rémy Baget’s haircut.
