Whereas Johnny Depp has just won his lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard, the actor could well make his return to the saga Pirates of the Caribbean.
The return of the pirate?
After several weeks of trial, the legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber has ended, and the favorite actor of Tim Burton has won his case against the one who accused him of domestic violence. If Amber Heard will not stop there, according to recent statements by her lawyer, for the time being, the American Justice has recognized that the actress was guilty of having defamed her former husband, and of having harmed his career.
And the least we can say is that since these accusations, Johnny Depp has seen himself ostracized from Hollywood, to say the least. A few months ago, he had also launched a rant, criticizing the cancel-culture which dominates in American cinema. We remember that Depp was fired, one after the other, from the sagas Pirates of the Caribbean (Disney) and Fantastic Beasts (Warner).
However, the actor hopes for a return to normalcy, as he made clear in his reaction to the announcement of the verdict. And according to some, Johnny Depp has good reason to hope, since he could make his return as Jack Sparrow. Indeed, according to a former Disney executive interviewed anonymously by Peoplethe verdict could push Disney to take over the star.
I am absolutely certain that after this verdict, Pirates of the Caribbean is set to restart with Johnny as Captain Jack back on board.
According to the former Disney exec, now that Johnny Depp has been released, Disney will necessarily be tempted to rehire himespecially in consideration with the very nostalgic vibe that governs film culture today.
With the massive success of Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverickthere’s a real appetite to bring Hollywood stars back to hugely popular franchises.
Obviously, for the time being, no official decision has been announced. Whether “James Gunn Jurisprudence” Proved Disney Can Sometimes Backtrack and Admit Mistakeswe know that during the trial against Amber Heard, Johnny Depp had explained that he would not return for anything in the world in the saga Pirates of the Caribbeansupposed to continue with Margot Robbie.
Nonetheless, while the petition calling for the return of Johnny Depp to the saga of Jerry Bruckheimer reached impressive heights on the sidelines of the trialwe can hope that Disney gives in and signs a check for an amount that Depp could not refuse.
Be careful however, the opinion of the former executive quoted above is not unanimously shared. Another producer, also anonymous, gave another story to the media News24.
I don’t think he’ll get any big, big jobs in studio films. There’s too much at stake. You can’t put a guy like that in billion-dollar franchises. The things he said are vile.
And you what do you think ? Do you think Johnny Depp will return to Pirates of the Caribbeanor will he be forever excluded from the big franchises? Tell us your opinion in the comments section.
