The opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival is broadcast from 7:15 p.m. on France 2. This 75th edition, of which France Télévisions is the official partner, will take place from May 17 to 28.

A French jury president. Vincent Lindon will have the honor of chairing a jury which will include as many men as women. He will be assisted by the British Rebecca Hall, the Indian Deepika Padukone, the Swedish Noomi Rapace and the Italian Jasmine Trinca on the actress side and, on the director side, by the Iranian Asghar Farhadi, the Frenchman Ladj Ly, the American Jeff Nichols and Norwegian Joachim Trier.
A big name in cinema in the spotlight. After Jodie Foster, in 2021, American actor, director and producer Forest Whitaker will be the guest of honor at the opening ceremony of the 75th Cannes Film Festival. He will receive an honorary Palme d’Or. His latest production, For the Sake of Peace, directed by Christophe Castagne and Thomas Sametin, will be screened on May 18 during a special screening.
