A fight scene from the new Doctor Strange movie seems to be drawn straight from an indie game in full development.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness had its own set of impressive scenes with spectacular visuals, but there is one fight scene in particular that stood out and impressed the audience. If you go further in this article, beware of disclosures! (Other geek words have just joined this horrible version of the word spoiler in the French dictionary)

In the latest MCU film directed by Sam Raimi, Stephen Strange finds himself facing off against one of his multiverse variants in an alternate reality. This fight, although short, revolves around a very particular mechanic and visuals that are original to say the least. Indeed, both Doctor Strange use musical instruments and the notes they produce to compete relentlessly. This fight also ends on a very serious note (a note, the music, you understand?) with the variant of our Stephen who finds himself impaled on a barrier in front of the Scantum Sanctorum.
Tribute or plagiarism?
This somewhat strange scene giving the impression of having come out of nowhere could ultimately have come from a completely different project, and it’s not from Disney. An independent game developer seems convinced that the teams behind the latest MCU Phase 4 film were freely inspired by his new game (not to say plagiarized).
Stephen Ddungu (who has the same first name as Doctor Strange to add humor to this coincidence) has been working for some time on a JRPG called Sword of Symphony which features music-based battles. This documents the development process of his game on Tiktok, where he met with success with several million views.
The game features a character capable of generating powerful attacks from luminous musical notes, a power that is reminiscent of the exact scene from the last film Doctor Strange. Coincidence, simple homage or plagiarism, the reality is difficult to situate here, but there is no alibi to thwart the trail of plagiarism at the time of writing this article.

A scene strangely added at the last moment
On the contrary, revelations even seem to confirm that this track is quite possible. Several sources who have worked on the new Marvel movie have indicated that this fight sequence was added in the last moments of production of the filmwhen a significant number of new scenes were filmed late last year.
Contacted by our colleagues from KotakuStephen Ddungu says:
“All sources (which cite the very people who worked on the film) strongly suggest that this scene was not in the original script of the film and that it was a last minute decision put in place at least three months after Sword of Symphony became popular on Tiktok and received praise from users for its concept.”
Disney has been contacted by our colleagues fromEurogamer who are waiting for an answer from them on this subject. No matter what direction this strange start to the scandal takes, Sword of Symphony seems more than promising as this musical concept is surprising that it is in Doctor Strange or in this game.
